The member of the parliamentary Economic Committee MP Abdel-Hussein Resan the need to apply the law of customs tariff to support the local product, stressing that it does not lead to increased food prices in local markets.
He said that there is a package of laws enacted by the House in the previous period have not been applied yet, including the customs tariff law, consumer protection, product and other national laws that support the Iraqi economy and the local product.
He believed Resan need to apply the law of the customs tariff at the present time because of its positive results in support of the local industry and the citizen through getting on the item of a high international standards, which last for a long period of local markets, noting: that most of the goods currently displayed in the Iraqi market quality is good and consume a period shorter life span.
He added that the application of this law does not lead to increased prices in local markets, "and opinion that goes into it that is wrong," the result of what he referred to supplement the law of customs tariff that the price ratios are different from (1% to 2%) between the substance and the other, saying: that the food not covered by the customs tariff, so the application of this law does not lead to increased prices in local markets.
A member of the Economic Commission representative that the law when it was amended by the House recently authorized the Council of Ministers a date for the application of this law, stressing: that the Government is committed to a definite time for the application of this law because of its great importance to the Iraqi economy and local industry.
He had accused the Member of the economy and investment MP Nahida Daini neighboring countries of Iraq by pressuring the federal government in order not to apply the law of the customs tariff.
Said Dani in an earlier statement that the man behind the non-application of the law of customs tariff in Iraq are the neighboring countries through their pressure on the Federal Government not to activate this law in order not to promote the economic sectors in Iraq, as well as for the passage of their wares bad of others to meet international standards to Iraq.
She added that the application of the law of customs tariff in Iraq will lead to significant damage to neighboring countries due to the marketing of their wares that Iraq today has become a popular market for goods and shoddy goods, and others subject to standardization and quality control that comes from neighboring countries.
