KIRKUK / Aswat al-Iraq: A leader of al-Qaeda Organization, wanted for terrorist operations, has been detained by the police in northern
Iraq's oil-rich city of Kirkuk on Friday, a Kirkuk police director reported.
"A force of our Police Directorate has detained Muhsin Hilew al-Jiboury who holds the post of finance officer of the so-called "Islamic State
of Iraq," belonging to al-Qaeda Organization, wanted for Article 4 - Terrorism, in Hawija township, 65 km to the southwest of Kirkuk,"
Lt-Brigadier, Sarhad Qader, told Aswat al-Iraq news agency.
The underground "Islamic State of Iraq," is an armed organization, established in 2006, to fight the US Army in Iraq and is opposed to
the Political Process in the country.
It is active in Kirkuk, Baghdad, Salahal-din, Anbar and Ninewa Provinces, and had carried several violence acts over the ast few years.
Qader said that Jiboury's detention took place due to intelligence information, giving no further details, describing him as an inhabitant of
Hajil village of Shirgat township of Salahal-din Province, charging him with having carried out several violence acts over the past few
years.
The oil-rich city of Kirkuk is inhabited by Kurds, Turkomen, Arabs and Christian Chaldo-Assyrians, and is 280 km to the north of Baghdad.
