Maliki confirms to the elders of Anbar, a plan to expand the powers of local governments

BAGHDAD / With: Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki, Wednesday, the demands made by the Council of Anbar province, legitimate, expressing his willingness to meet them all, but the demands that are outside the circle of his constitutional powers.
A press statement of the Office of Prime Minister al-Maliki received news agency, the future a copy of it, "he stressed during his meeting with a number of sheikhs and dignitaries of the province of Anbar, the need to maintain national unity among all Iraqis, and expand the powers of the provinces as well positioned to provide services and accelerate the process of reconstruction of their provinces."
He added that there is "a plan to convert all the powers of the central government to local governments, except those related to sovereignty, security and foreign policy, and the distribution of wealth that must be centralized so that is distributed to all citizens equally."
For their part, said the elders of Anbar province, according to the statement, "supporting the government and its president, particularly in its efforts to maintain the country's unity, sovereignty and stability, stressing the depth of the brotherly ties between all Iraqis for being stronger than the challenges they face."
