Iraq was the first to choose democratic rule - Martin Kobler

BAGHDAD / Aswat al-Iraq: UN special representative to Iraq Martin Kobler said today that the US forces withdrawal is a chance for the Iraqi people and its elected leaders to prove to the world their ability to succeed in administering their country for better future.
"Iraq was the first country in the Middle East to choose the democratic rule which could be an example to be followed," Kobler pointed out.
The UN electronic site reported this in his letter at the end of this year.
Head of UNAMI confirmed that "there are many future tasks and challenges to be faced by the Iraq government and leaders, taking a major priority the security of the citizens in their work.
He called all Iraqi leaders to immediately and responsibly to solve their differences through an overall and constructive dialogue.
Kobler expressed hope that the Iraqi people will be able in 2012 to protect and enhance its national unity and work for an Iraq full with peace, democracy and prosperity.
