Tehran - First Vice-President Mohammad Reza Rahimi on Tuesday said Iraq needs reconstruction and developing social security. He made the remarks in a meeting with visiting Iraqi Minister of Programming Ali Yusef al-Shokri in Tehran.
Rahimi said Iran will not withhold assistance and support for Iraq in its reconstruction drive and will strive hard to solve social difficulties and backwardness in that country.
He said that the Iraqi government must struggle to boost living standard in the country.
The Vice-president also called for consolidation of the two countries' relations and said a united Iran and Iraq can be a strong power to stand against enemies.
Rahimi said Iraq after years is now experiencing a democratic government based on its people's will, so it passed days of difficulties and must achieve welfare, peace and security afterwards.
Al-shokri expressed pleasure with withdrawal of US forces from his country and said Iraqi people could finally expel US troops out of their land, but that the US is trying to create political crisis in Iraq and interfering in Iraqi domestic affairs.
He called on Iran to continue with its support for Iraqis at international arena and in the reconstruction drive.
Al-Shoki said Iran's valuable experiences in different fields will undoubtedly facilitate the development process in Iraq.
He said Iran and Iraq share common historical grounds and have common enemies who consider Iran's close relations with Iraq as a threat.
