Committee, formed to prepare for Iraq’s National Conference, to meet Sunday

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: The Special Committee, formed to prepare for the holding of Iraq’s National Conference, shall meet next Sunday, to assign a venue for its holding, The Kurdish Alliance’s Legislature, Mahmoud Othman said on Thursday. “The Kurdistan Alliance does not want to enter the issue of Iraq’s Vice-President, Tariq al-Hashimy, (wanted under charges of terrorism), on the Conference’s agenda,” Othman told IraqiNews.com news agency,” adding that Hashimy’s case is a judcial case, that must be left for the Judiciary to deal with.” Othman said that “no agreement had been reached till now about the venue of the National Conference, but the Committee, formed to prepare for the Conference would meet next Sunday to discuss that venue, which we hope will be satisfactory for all parties.” Iraq is witnessing a huge political crisis in the background of charges against Vice-President Hashimy, the leading member in al-Iraqiya Alliance, with having been behind “terrorist” acts and a decision by Prime Minister, Nouri al-Maliki, to withdraw trust from his Deputy Prime Minister, Saleh al-Mutlaq, also an al-Iraqiya leader.
