BAGHDAD / Aswat al-Iraq: Al-Iraqiya Alliance, led by former Prime Minister, Iyad Allawi, has denied a statement by
the Iranian Ambassador to Baghdad, that its Leader, Iyad Allawi, had requested to carry out a dialogue with the Ambassador.
"In response to a press statement by the Iranian Ambassador to Baghdad, Hassan Danae, for the Iranian MEHR News
Agency, in which he said that the Leader of al-Iraqiya Alliance, Iyad Allawi, had requested to meet the Ambassador, the
fact is that Allawi had agreed with the other leaders of the Alliance invite the Ambassador to visit the office of al-Iraqiya
Alliance in Baghdad to discuss with him the Iranian interference in Iraq's internal affairs," al-Iraqiya's Leading Member,
Sheikh Hussein Ali al-Shaalan stated on Thursday.
"Dr.
Iyad Allawi had rejected dozens of invitations by the Iranian government to visit Tehran, and he has no intention to
visit it in the future," Shaalan said, adding that "such statements reflect the current circumstances facing the Iranian Leadership,
suffering from international isolation and the deterioration of Iran's economic conditions.
