BAGHDAD / Aswat al-Iraq: Iraq was elected on Thursday as the vice president of the Arab Ministerial Council for Tourism in the Arab League.
"Iraq was elected for the post due to its great civilization and importance in the Arab and Islamic world," said a tourism ministry's statement quoting Tourism Minister Lewaa Semesem as saying.
The Iraqi Parliament passed the tourism ministry law last January 23.
