BAGHDAD / Aswat al-Iraq: Saleh al-Mutlaq, in his capacity as a leading member in al-Iraqiya Bloc, today met with UN representative in Iraq Martin Kobler.
Both sides discussed the Iraqi political scene and security challenges, in addition to the Iraqi preparations to host the coming Arab Summit, due in Baghdad next month.
In a statement by his office, received by Aswat al-Iraq, the two sides agreed to activate UNAMI's mission in Iraq to enhance its work in relief, education and sporting fields, as well as the exchange of scientific and cultural activities.
The questions of eradicating illiteracy and financial corruption were among the subjects tackled between the two sides.
Kobler summarized the main activities carried out by the UN organization in Iraq, as well as the attempt to unify political views, humanitarian issues and the movement of Ashraf camp residents.
