ERBIL - Erbil is set to host 11 international expos this year, including the city's first education exhibition.
Spervisor of Erbil International Expos Ahmed Abdul-Rahman said the organization has already signed deals for running the 11 events, adding that four more may also take place this year.
The number trumps the previously reported figure of 10 planned expos for 2012.
For the first time the expo space will host a basic education and higher education event.
The first expo for this year - based on automobiles and spare parts - will run next week for four days.
There are also expos for the fields of municipality, housing and architecture, agriculture, reconstruction, oil and gas, and industry.
A joint expo for Italian, Iranian and Turkish commodities will also be held in 2012, along with a book expo arranged for April.
The Erbil International Expos space has hosted approximately 40 international expos and almost 2 million visitors since it opened in 2005.
The organization previously stated that 13 international expos were held in Erbil last year.
