Sources reveal the Kuwaiti Iraqi agreement to cancel the debt in exchange for recognition marks the border
Kuwaiti diplomatic sources revealed on Monday that Kuwait agreed to drop all outstanding debt that exceeds $ 120 billion on Iraq in return for the latter's consent to the demarcation of the border with Kuwait in accordance with the resolutions of the United Nations.
The sources said that both Iraq and Kuwait agreed in recent weeks that the fall of Kuwait all the debts owed by Iraq, but compensation, compared to acknowledge Iraq Kuwait's borders according to UN Resolution 883 of 1993, in addition to the recognition of places of border markers have been erected between the two countries.
The sources said that this agreement has been settled in during the visit by Iraqi Foreign Minister Hoshyar Zebari to Kuwait at the end of February. As pointed out that the Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki will sign this agreement formally during his upcoming visit to Kuwait, then submit it to parliament for approval.
