Iraq Urges Gulf States To Attend Arab Summit With Senior Officials

Iraq on Monday urged its Arab Gulf neighbour countries to attend the upcoming Arab Summit it will be hosting with high level delegations, as a contribution to the success of the summit.
In a government statement, Iraqi Foreign Minister Hoshyar Zebari made the calls to Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Saud Al-Faisal, Kuwaiti Foreign Minister Sheikh Sabah Khalid Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, Qatari Foreign Minister Sheikh Hamad bin Jassim, Bahraini Foreign Minister Sheikh Khaled bin Ahmed Al-Khalifa, and UAE Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah Bin Zayed.
The statement noted that Zebari explained to his GCC counterparts, Iraq’s preparations and readiness to host the Arab Summit in Baghdad next Thursday, stressing the importance of the participation of GCC countries on a high-level.
The representation level of most Arab countries remains unclear, with only two days left until the summit.
However, there were a number of assurances by some Arab countries, whom have mentioned they would be represented by their leader, in person.
