Barazani, Panetta discuss possibility of keeping American forces in Iraq

Baghdad (NINA) – Head of Kurdistan region, Massoud Barazani, met on Tuesday, July 12, with the US Secretary of Defence, Leon Panetta, who is currently on a visit to Iraq.
Barazani’s Media Advidor, Faisal al-Dabbagh, told NINA, “Panetta’s visit is to speed up forming Iraqi government and to determine whether American forces will remain in Iraq.”
He added that the two talked about keeping American forces before and after withdrawal, and the US Secretary of Defence requested Barazani to exert more efforts toward finalizing the formation of Iraq’s government.
Dabbagh pointed out, “The two discussed the situation in the neighboring Arab countries and its effects on Kurdistan region.”
Panetta arrived in Iraq on Sunday; he held talks with President Talabani and Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki dealt with bilateral relations
