Speaker of Parliament, Usama al-Nijaifi, asserted his rejection to divide Iraq, asserting that he will fight whoever seeks to divide it.
Nijaifi stressed during a meeting on Sunday, July 24, with a delegation representing southern and western Niniveh’s tribes, the importance to discard the wrong policy of double standards in administrative work and favoring some on the expense of others, which enabled unqualified to hold important posts in Iraq’s public offices.
He stressed the necessity to implement the Constitution’s terms in dividing the country’s wealth; praising the former Army’s role in defending Iraq because it was a patriotic army fought in defense of the homeland; it was not responsible for the politicians’ mistakes, he added.
Nijaifi considered the borders of Niniveh province of being sacred, saying, “I will not any part of it be deducted, fruitful negotiations are underway to restore things to their natural status that will preserve the rights of all of the province’s ethnics, religions and sects groups.”
He went on saying, “Because the stubbornness of some in implementing genuine national partnership plans to reform the Justice and Accountability Law has stumbled, keeping wrong practices going on.”
Nijaifi stressed, “Some provinces’ demands to become regions resulted from their feeling that they are being dealt with injustice and having their rights taken away from them.” He concluded.
