Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) -The Independent High Electoral Commission approved 25 political parties in some provinces to participate in the next elections for the provincial councils that will be held in April 2013.
A statement posted in the website of the IHEC stated on Wednesday that “The IHEC has approved 25 political parties to participate in the upcoming elections among them the Living and Brotherhood slate in Kirkuk headed by Kirkuk Governor and comprises a number of political parties such as the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan headed by the President, Jalal Talabani.”
“The IHEC has also approved the Iraqi National Alliance in Diyala province that comprises some political parties such as the Dawa Islamic Party headed by the Premier, Nouri al-Maliki, the National Reformation Trend headed by Ibrahim al-Jaffary and some other parties,” the statement added.
“Some other alliances were approved in the other provinces,” the statement concluded.
