Conclude in Baghdad on Thursday, the meetings of the eighth session of the Iraqi-Syrian Joint Committee, have signed a joint agreement for economic cooperation and trade, financial, scientific and technical support.
A statement of the Ministry of Trade, the Minister, Dr Khairul Hassan Babiker head the Iraqi side confirmed in a speech at the opening session of meetings which began yesterday, Iraqi government's keenness to consolidate and strengthen relations with Syria through the focus of the negotiations and the proposals discussed at the meetings on the development prospects of cooperation and facilities that contribute to the achievement of a joint economic agreement contribute to the expansion of the level of trade exchange between them.
He hoped the minister said in a statement to the Ministry of Commerce, that the two sides reach to good results and good and fruitful through discussions and negotiations to be held today, which will see a major breakthrough in the near future in many areas, according to a new strategy in the fields of industry, trade and oil and gas and investment in Iraq, Syria, and to serve the interests of both parties.
For his part, the President of the Syrian delegation, Minister of Trade and Economy Dr. Mohamad Nedal logo desire of his government to develop and enhance the prospects for cooperation in all fields with Iraq, thus raising the level of relations on all levels, stressing that the meetings of the Committee will make the results of an effective and immediate goals and future objectives, according to The ministry said in a statement.
He revealed that talks between the two sides during the meetings address topics on the agenda include trade cooperation leading to the development and expansion of trade in goods and services, the contribution of companies in both countries and support the cooperation areas of private sector development and exchange of experiences through the centers of business information adopted to have the possibility of entering into partnership existing projects and the establishment of mixed joint-stock companies in both countries and the search for the possibility of development of investment and participation in international fairs and specialized research and the prospects of financial cooperation and tax and customs and free zones.
He noted that the areas of economic cooperation and technical issues on the agenda of the Committee include industry, oil, transport, planning, specifications and standardization, agriculture, water resources, in addition to the areas of cooperation in the sectors of education, culture, electricity, communications, justice, higher education and scientific research, sports and youth.
