Iraqi government issues special amnesty for Saudi prisoner

(AIN) –The Iraqi Government agreed to issue a special amnesty for the Saudi prisoner, Ali Salim al-Mary, and to return him to his country.
The Sharq Saudi newspaper quoted the Head of the Committee of the Saudi prisoners in Iraq, Thamer al-Balhid, as saying "The Saudi prisoner took advantage of the amnesty which covered him along with the Iraqi prisoners.''
"The administration of Taji prison obtained the legal approval from the Saudi prisoner to complete all the procedures related his case in order to return him to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia,'' the newspaper added.
"The Saudi prisoner was sentenced to death before three years in a civil case but his verdict was reduced to 15 years in prison few months ago,'' the newspaper pointed out.
The number of the Saudi prisoners in Iraq reaches (63) prisoners jailed in the various Iraqi prisons.\END\
