Wassat Alliance Joins Al Iraqiya List Parliamentary Bloc
August 02, 2011
Iraqiya List led by Iyad Allawi said on Monday that Al Wassat Alliance Bloc joined Al Iraqiya List Parliamentary bloc.
Al Iraqiya List Spokesman Haidar AL Mulla told Alsumarianews that “Al Wassat Alliance” bloc which includes Iraq Unity Alliance and Iraq Accordance Front, which are constituted of 10 MPs, joined Al Iraqiya List parliamentary bloc.
Mulla said that the merge came after a meeting that was held Monday night in the office of Iraq President Tarek AL Hashemi with the presence of a large number of Al Iraqiya List members and Al Wassat Alliance. He also added that Al Wassat Alliance is from on a member of Al Iraqiya List and it will undertake applying the political program thereof.
This announcement comes 20 days after announcing that Iraq Unity Alliance partially joined (4 parliamentary seats) which was announced after a meeting held in the office of Al Iraqiya List Iyad Allawi in the 11th of July in the presence of leaders in Iraq Unity Alliance: Jawad AL Boulani and Ahmad Abou Richa.
Al Wassat Alliance denied two weeks ago the statements of some political forces regarding its intention to merge with Al Iraqiya List. The member of the Alliance and the State Minister for Foreign Affairs Ali Al Sajri told Alsumariuanews during an interview that news about the intention of Al Wassat Alliance to merge with Al Iraqiya List is not true and stressed that his alliance will not change its stance which is to support national partnership government and uttered that there will be intensified dialogues between Al Wassat Alliance and White Iraqiya Party in order to enter in future alliances.
Al Wassat MP Khaled Al Fahdawi told “Alsumarianews” in July 5 2011 that he was holding meeting since months with parties inside Al Iraqiya list in order to find common ground and added that understandings between Al Wassat and Al Iraqiya could soon lead to a merge or an agreement between the two lists.
As Al Wassat Alliance joins Al Iraqiya its alliance share in the parliament becomes constituted of 92 seats or 100 seats if we add the seats of White Iraqiya Party which announced that it left Al Iraqiya List because Iyad Allawi is monopolizing the decision taking.
