Kobler praises special vote process
Baghdad (AIN) –The UN Secretary General’s Special Representative to Iraq, Martin Kobler, expressed his satisfaction concerning conducting of the special vote of the elections of provincial councils in a smooth manner, praising the role of the Independent High Electoral Commission.
Kobler reported in statement received by AIN on Saturday “The special vote represented the start of the elections process, ” adding that “The IHEC showed high level of professionalism in this process.”
“The special vote is organized for first time under full Iraqi administration,” the statement added.
“The security elements of the Army and Police forces practiced their rights in voting for their representatives in provincial councils,” the statement continued.
Kobler called “The Iraqi security forces to provide the required protection in the public election day to ensure free and safe atmosphere for the elections.”
