Baghdad (NINA) – Italy’s Foreign Minister, Franco Frattini, said that his country seeks to solve the Iraq-Kuwait dispute as soon as possible.
In a statement to the Italian Agenzia Giornalistica (AGI), Frattini said that during his recent meeting with his Iraqi and Kuwiati counter parts, Hoshyar Zebari and Mohammed Sabah al-Salim al-Sabah, he sensed both countries’ desire for dialogue to solve their border dispute that might be converted to a dangerous spark.
He pointed out to Italy’s efforts to solve the dispute by inviting both sides to meet again toward solving the dispute as soon as possible.
Frattini expressed his country’s readiness to host such a dialogue, saying, “This will be wonderful, and I believe that both countries realize that Italy is a friendly country to both of them.” And his only concern is the region’s stability and conciliation.
