International envoy expresses shock over the attacks that hit Iraq during Eid vacation

Baghdad (NINA) – The Deputy Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General for Iraq, Georgi Boston, expressed shock and anger over the string of coordinated attacks against market places, streets and parks in Baghdad and other parts of the country, while the people celebrating the Fit Eid.
In a statement to the press on Sunday, Aug. 11, Boston said that the Iraqis must challenge the situation and put an end to this bloody and criminal violence aiming to draw the country toward sectarian struggle.
He added that this crime reflects the attackers' criminal and inhuman nature.
He expressed condolences to the victims' families wishing the wounded a speedy recovery.
At least 50 persons killed and over 100 wounded on Saturday evening, in a new security breach witnessed by Baghdad and other provinces when 10 car bombs exploded. / End.
