Baghdad (NINA) – *****Oil Ministry signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Egyptin (Al Qalaa) company to carry out the implementation of the investment oil refinery in Mosul of a 150.000 BPD capacity.*****
A statement issued by the Ministry quoted Ahmed Al Shamaa, the Oil Ministry Undersecretary, as saying “the MOU states that the refnery will be provided with crude oil from Najma and Gaiara oil fields.”
The MOU granted the company 3 years to prepare studies and designs that will decide the possibilities of building, after the oil production of the two fields reaches the peak.
The ministry decided to build a refinery in the area because the best way to benefit from oil produced by the two fields is to produce the oil products needed for the local market.
