Baghdad/Iraq News Network-United Nations warned in a statement Tuesday, the risk of an epidemic of measles and the return of polio in Iraq due to the lack of more than half a million children with health protection, noting "suspend its health programmes reported millions of people due to lack of funds".
While the United Nations humanitarian coordinator in Iraq, Lise Grande, said that "citizens in Iraq and as they need us, we abandon them because of lack of funds mean lack of half a million children, what increases the risk of a measles epidemic, the return of polio in conjunction with reduced food rations for one million people."
The statement said that "more than 80% of the health programmes supported by the currently suspended humanitarian partners means that 184 health service was stopped due to lack of funds for humanitarian activities with other programmes will depend on the end of تموز″, noting that this comment would hurt million people directly, and millions of others indirectly."
