The Islamic Supreme Council regarded Iraqiya list’s stand before the government’s formation as “immoral” while it pointed out that the council’s position was patriotic and not self-centered when it refused the formation of a political-majority government, it said.
“Islamic supreme council’s position preceding the current government formation was patriotic and not self-centered,” said senior official Baqer Al Zubaidi who was hosted in “Bayna Qawsayn” political talk show on Alsumaria TV on Monday.
“If we had self-interests we would have left the National Alliance and Al Iraqiya list and agreed behind the scenes to form a majority-government,” Al Zubaidi noted. “This was the intention of Kurds’ coalition with the National Alliance which has 159 seats in the parliament,” he added.
“The Islamic Supreme Council believed at that time that a majority-government formation puts the country at risk” Al Zubaidi stated. “Iraqiya’s position was wrong and immoral,” Al Zubaidi argued stressing that he informed them about his position.
