Italian 47 companies planning to invest in Iraq
Baghdad, June 8 (Rn) - The Iraqi Ministry of Finance Wednesday signed an agreement with the Italian government to protect its investments in the country, stressing that 47 Italian company will enter the country during the next month to invest in building parks, schools and water plants and electricity.
Iraq seeks to modernize its economy, especially after the signing of oil deals aimed at increasing oil production to four times its current volume, despite the fact that the country's infrastructure is still crumbling after decades of war and sanctions.
An official at the ministry's press office Zaid Mohamed Kurdistan News Agency (Rn) that "the Finance Minister Rafie al-Issawi and Italian Foreign Minister Franco Frattini and signed an agreement between the two countries for the promotion and protection of Italian investments in Iraq."
