Italian 47 companies planning to invest in Iraq
Baghdad, June 8 (Rn) - The Iraqi Ministry of Finance Wednesday signed an agreement with the Italian government to protect its investments in the country, stressing that 47 Italian company will enter the country during the next month to invest in building parks, schools and water plants and electricity.
Iraq seeks to modernize its economy, especially after the signing of oil deals aimed at increasing oil production to four times its current volume, despite the fact that the country's infrastructure is still crumbling after decades of war and sanctions.
An official at the ministry's press office Zaid Mohamed Kurdistan News Agency (Rn) that "the Finance Minister Rafie al-Issawi and Italian Foreign Minister Franco Frattini and signed an agreement between the two countries for the promotion and protection of Italian investments in Iraq."
And urges Iraq, Arab businessmen and foreigners to invest in their land, confirming the existence of facilities that will attract a lot of them into the country and check them interest.
He also explained that the "47 Italian company will invest in the country during the next few days in the fields of investment and construction of housing complexes, roads and bridges, building schools and water plants as well as large investment in the field of electricity in the country."
Mohammed said that "there are some problems that accompanied the signing of the agreement, considering that some of the conditions was not agreed upon during the signing of the Convention," adding that "the Finance Minister called for changing the terms of the agreement before you sign it so as to protect Iraqi funds and protects Iraq from any legal dispute with the IMF international level. "
He said that the Italian side responded to the amendments put forward by the Minister of Finance.
