Baghdad (NINA) - MP from the Stat eof Law Coalition, Haitham Al Jubouri, announced that the National Alliance rejects the conference proposed by President, Jalal Talabani, and his two Vice Presidents to comprise parties of the political process and non-participating parties as well, because it takes Iraq back to square one.
He said in a statement to NINA today “we have now an elected legislative authority and there is no need for a conference comprising parties not participating in the political process, because their presence is not essential as they do not affect the decision-making process."
Jubouri explained "the NA presented two proposals instead of the conference proposed by the Presidency; either to hold a meeting of political blocs’ leaders, or to hold a meeting of the three presidencies, including their deputies, as the political process requires issuing laws and establishing integrated governmental program."
He stressed that the political process is limited to specific blocs; State of Law Coalition, Iraqiya Slate, White Iraqiya Slate, Kurdistan Alliance, and Taghier Bloc, and that there is no need to involve hundreds of parties that are not participating in the political process and take decisions that affect it.
Talabani agreed with his two Vice President, Tariq Al Hashimi and Khudeir Al Khuzae during a meeting held on the 23rd of last month, to contact blocs’ and political leaders to gather in a national conference in order to reach a comprehensive national project that meets Iraqis’ wishes in the next stage and represents the beginning of a new era. /End/
