GCC fully behind Kuwait''s Mubarak Al-Kabeer port

RIYADH, Dec 20 (KUNA) -- The Supreme Council of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) expressed here on Tuesday full support to the State of Kuwait to building Mubarak Al-Kabeer port as it would built erected on Kuwaiti territory, within its territorial waters and in line with UN resolutions.
The supreme council, at the conclusion of the 32nd session, voiced confidence that Iraq's full implementation of international obligations regarding Kuwait would boost confidence and relations between the two neighboring countries.
The GCC leaders, in their final communique, reiterated respect of Iraq's independence, territorial unity and regional safety as well as non-interferring in its internal affairs to prevent division. They also respected its Arab and Islamic identity.
The supreme council hoped Iraq, considering the "brotherly" relations with the six GCC countries, would not interfere in the their domestic affairs and stop the media campaigns which were counter-productive.
It called on all political parties and forces in Iraq to live up to their responsibilities to build a united, stable and prosperous Iraq in the wake of the American forces' withdrawal.
The supreme council said it was important that Iraq fully comply with UN resolutions related to the former Iraqi regime's invasion of Kuwait, including the completion of maintenance of border signs in line with UN resolution 833 and paying compensations for Iraqi farmers in accordance with UN resolution 899.
The supreme council also called on Iraq to locate whereabouts of prisoners and missing of Kuwait and other countries, return the national archive and properties of Kuwait. It also urged the UN and relevant organizations to continue their endeavors to end this file. (end)
