1st VP: Iran, Iraq can take long strides for benefit of two nations
Tehran, March 7, IRNA – First Vice President Mohammad Reza Rahimi said here on Wednesday that since Iran and Iraq enjoy strong ties, they can take long steps in line with their nations’ interests.
In a meeting with his Iraqi counterpart, Khazir Al-Khazai, he referred to the brotherly ties between the two neighboring states and said that the enemies had pit them against each other but today, by God’s grace, they are alongside each other.
Rahimi also said that efforts should be made to make optimal use of existing capacities and said that the two countries enjoy huge resources and play crucial role in supplying gas and oil to the world. That’s why arrogant powers have cast a covetous eye on them.
He also voiced Iran’s readiness to promote economic and commercial cooperation with Iraq and said that there is a bright prospect before the two nations.
Al-Khazaei, for his part, said that certain countries are trying to damage the friendly bilateral ties.
He also called on the two states to be vigilant and no let the enemies’ plots mar their relations.
He further noted that his country has made serious efforts to remove obstacles in the way of mutual cooperation.
Iraq is willing to see Iranian firms investing in the country’s projects, Al-Khazaei said.
