The statement said that the two sides also discussed the progress of existing programs aimed at building capacity in the field of energy and held by each of the Commercial Law Development Program of the U.S. Department of Commerce and the U.S. Agency for International Development.
For its part, indicated the United States "to the great role played by the potential" Export-Import Bank of the U.S. "and" Private Investment Corporation Overseas "in order to expand the scope of funding in the areas of trade and investment in energy.
The two sides noted in their statement that both the Deputy Prime Minister Hussain al-Shahristani, the deputy U.S. Secretary of Energy Poneman will make on Tuesday, April 24 visit laboratories Lawrence Livermore National where Satalaaan presentations on the uses of advanced technology in the areas of protection of critical infrastructure facilities for oil and nuclear technology, advanced and private areas of civil and renewable energy technology.
The statement said that the United States renewed its commitment to continuing to support the electricity sector in Iraq through training on operation, maintenance and provision of spare parts required and the development of Iraq's plans to boost output of the main electricity and helping to implement them.
Turning to the United States the important contributions in the energy sector in Iraq since 2003 that involve spending four to six billion dollars on the electricity sector and more than two billion dollars on the oil sector.
The statement declared the commitment of both the United States and the Republic of Iraq to hold a meeting quarterly to the Joint Coordinating Committee of the energy over the next year.
The Joint Coordinating Committee in the field of energy had been founded under the Strategic Framework Agreement signed between Iraq and the United States in 2008 to strengthen the strategic partnership between the two countries in a number of initiatives.
