Standard & Poor's 500 closed down by Cyprus and Dow snaps

benchmark Standard & Poor's 500 U.S. lower for a third session on Tuesday but pared losses late in the session after Cypriot parliament rejected a proposal to impose a tax on bank deposits.
Dow Jones industrial average DJI 3.84 points, or 0.03 percent, to close at 14455.90 points, while the benchmark S & P 500 broader 3.75 points or 0.24 percent to 1548.35 points.
and Nasdaq Composite Index, which IXIC technology 8.50 points, or 0.26 percent, to close at 3229.10 points.
