Iraq: Maliki asked the army stay away

Nouri al-Maliki, who objected to putting it away after the appointment of a new Prime Minister in Iraq, today called on the armed forces to stay away from the political crisis as a result of fears on possible intervention.
Nouri al-Maliki, the incumbent Prime Minister who remains Commander-in-Chief of the armed forces until the taking of oath of his successor, Haidar al-Abadi, asked these forces to "stay away from the political crisis and continue their tasks safely and military to defend the country", according to a statement posted on its official website.
